July 24 in Snowbird

On July 24, Cindi, Brittany, Jensen, and I enjoyed a day up Little Cottonwood Canyon at Snowbird (Andrew was with Grandma and Grandpa Horton). It was just a short drive (about 20-30 minutes from our home), and it turned out to be a beautiful day! We made it up there a little after 11:20 a.m.

We purchased the All-Day Pass for the rides they offer at the resort.

First, Jensen bounced in an inflatable castle while the girls waited in line at the Euro-bungy. They had a fun time doing that--Cindi even did some back flips! It is a bungy mechanism that supports you as you bounce and allows you to try some acrobatics that you normally would not!

After that, we all took the tram up the mountain (it is over 11,000 feet at the summit!). On the way up, we saw some deer on the mountainside. When we got to the top, it was a spectacular view! You could see into the Heber Valley on one side and over to the Salt Lake Valley on the other side. At the resort, the temperature when we took the tram was in the high 80s/low 90s. At the summit, it was in the low 60s!

Brittany and I then went up the lift sky rider to get in line for the Alpine Slide. We had ridden a similar ride at Park City in 2001 or 2002, but this was the first time at Snowbird. The lines were long (probably due to the holiday), and by the time we waited in line to get the sled and then waited in line to get on the track and go down, we were gone from Cindi and Jensen for about 90 minutes. He was tired, and wanted to go home. We tried to convince him to go to Grandma's with Andrew, but he wouldn't agree to our plan, so Cindi said she would stay home with the boys while Brittany and I returned.

When Brit and I went back up, we did the Zip Rider once, the Alpine Slide one more time, as well as the Tram. They closed at 8 pm, so we left at 7 and went to Hire's to get a treat and then went home.

It was a fun experience for all of us--we need to get back and do some hiking. They have great trails and it would make another fun family outing!
